Workout Studio

Record, host, and share on-demand workout videos with clients.

Workout Studio Overview

Workout Studio lets you build curated workout collections that clients browse and follow at their own pace. Organize workouts into themed sections, choose how they display, control which clients have access, and give your clients a polished on-demand experience in the mobile app.

Your Workout Studio page shows all studios you have created, with key details at a glance:

  • Studio name and cover image
  • Total workouts in the studio
  • Total clients with access

From this page you can:

  • Create new workout studios
  • Edit, duplicate, or delete existing studios
  • Search studios by name
  • Click into any studio to manage its sections and workouts

Creating a Workout Studio

1
Navigate to the Workout Studio page from the sidebar
2
Click Add Workout Studio
3
Enter a Workout Studio Name (required) — for example, "Strength Training" or "30-Day Challenge"
4
Enter an optional Description to explain what the studio contains or who it is for
5
Select a cover image — click the image thumbnail to open the cover image picker
6
Click Add Workout Studio to save

Your new studio appears in the list. Click into it to start adding sections and workouts.

Give each studio a clear, descriptive name that your clients will recognize instantly. Names like "Home Workouts", "Gym Essentials", or "Beginner Program" work well.

Choosing a Cover Image

Every studio has a cover image that appears in the studio list and at the top of the client's mobile view. You have two options:

Default images

HubFit provides a gallery of built-in cover images. Click any thumbnail to select it.

Custom upload

Click Upload Image to upload your own image. Uploaded images are compressed for optimal performance.

To reset to a default image after uploading a custom one, click the X button on the preview and select a default thumbnail.

Understanding Sections

Sections are how you organize workouts inside a studio. Each section has a name and its own layout format, so you can create a visually varied experience for your clients.

For example, a studio called "Full Body Program" might have sections like:

  • Upper Body — displayed as a carousel
  • Lower Body — displayed as a grid
  • Core & Abs — displayed as a list
  • Cooldown & Mobility — displayed as cards

Sections appear in order from top to bottom. Each section shows its name, workout count, and the workouts it contains.

Adding a Section

1
Open a workout studio by clicking on it from the studio list
2
Click Add Section in the page header (or the "Add Section" button in the empty state if no sections exist)
3
Enter a Section Name — for example, "Push Day", "Warm-Up Routines", or "Week 1"
4
Click Create Section

The section appears in the studio builder. You can now add workouts to it.

Adding Workouts to a Section

Workout Studio imports workouts from your existing Training workout library. You do not create workouts inside the studio — you select them from what you have already built.

1
Inside a section, click Add Workout
2
The Import Workout modal opens, showing workouts from your library
3
Search or browse for the workout you want to add
4
Use tag filters to narrow results
5
Click a workout to add it — the workout is immediately added to the section

Each workout displays the following information inside the section:

FieldDescription
NameThe workout name from your library
ThumbnailThe workout's cover image
Exercise countTotal number of exercises in the workout
A workout can only appear once per section. If it is already in the section, it will not appear in the import list for that section. The same workout can appear in different sections within the same studio.
Build your workouts in the Training library first, then import them into studios. Changes to a workout in the library are reflected in Workout Studio.

Section Layout Formats

Each section has an independent layout format that controls how workouts are displayed to clients in the mobile app. You can mix and match layouts across sections within the same studio.

To change a section's layout, click Layout on the section header, then select one of the four options:

FormatDisplayBest for
CarouselLarge horizontal cards that scroll left and right, showing roughly 1.2 cards at a timeFeatured or hero workouts you want to highlight
GridTwo-column grid of square cardsBrowsable collections with many workouts
CardFull-width vertical cards stacked on top of each otherShowcasing workouts with large thumbnails
ListCompact rows with a small thumbnail, workout name, and exercise countDense sections with many items

The default format for new sections is List. Use the live phone preview on the right side of the builder to see exactly how each layout looks before sharing with clients.

Viewing a Workout

Click any workout in a section to open it in a read-only modal. This shows the full workout detail, including all exercises, sets, reps, and any notes — the same detail your clients will see.

1
Open the studio you want to edit

3
Update the name, description, or cover image
4

You can also edit a studio directly from the studio list by clicking the three-dot menu on the row and selecting Edit.

Duplicating a Workout Studio

Duplicating creates a copy of the studio with all its sections and workouts. The copy does not include client access — you will need to grant access separately.

From the studio list

1
Click the three-dot menu on the studio row
2
Select Duplicate
3
Enter a name for the copy
4
Click Duplicate Workout Studio
Duplication is useful when you want to create variations of a studio for different client groups — for example, a "Beginner" version and an "Advanced" version that share the same structure but different workouts.

1
Click the three-dot menu on the studio row in the list
2
Select Delete
3
Confirm the deletion

Managing Client Access

Use Manage Access to control which clients can see and browse a workout studio in the app. A client can have access to multiple studios, and each studio can be shared with multiple clients.

Granting access

1
Open the workout studio
2
Click Manage Access in the page header
3
The Manage Access modal opens with two panels: your client list on the left and clients with access on the right
4
Select one or more clients from the left panel to grant them access
5
Clients appear in the right panel once access is granted

When a client is granted access, they receive a notification and the Workout Studio feature becomes visible in their app.

Revoking access

1
Open the Manage Access modal
2
Click the remove button on any client in the right panel

Access is revoked immediately. If the client no longer has access to any workout studio, the feature is automatically hidden from their app.

You can grant access to multiple clients at once by selecting several clients before confirming. Access can also be granted using a single client ID or a batch of client IDs.

How Clients View Workout Studios

Clients see their assigned studios in the Workout Studio section of the app. Each studio shows its cover image, name, and workout count. Tapping a studio opens it with sections displayed in the layout you configured. When a client taps a workout, they can view the full exercise breakdown and start tracking it directly using the in-app workout tracker.

When you grant access, clients receive a push notification. If you revoke access or delete the studio, it disappears from their app. If a client has no remaining studio access, the Workout Studio feature is automatically hidden.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can clients add their own workouts to a studio? No. Studios are created and managed by coaches. Clients can only browse and follow the workouts you share.

Do studios update automatically for clients? Yes. If you add or remove workouts, change layouts, or update sections, clients see the changes the next time they open the studio.

What happens if I delete a workout from my Training library? It is automatically removed from all workout studios that reference it.

Why doesn't my client see the Workout Studio feature? You need to grant them access to at least one studio via Manage Access for the feature to appear in their app.

Can I share the same studio with multiple clients? Yes. Use Manage Access to grant access to as many clients as you need.

Can I reorder my workout studios? No. Workout studios are displayed in the order they were created. This cannot be changed.
