Recipe Books

Build branded recipe books and share them with clients.

Recipe Books Overview

Recipe Books let you build curated recipe collections organized by sections, choose how each section is displayed, and share them with individual clients. Clients browse their assigned books directly inside the mobile app. You can reach the Recipe Books page from the main sidebar navigation.

From this page you can:

  • Create new recipe books from scratch
  • Import ready-made recipe books from the template library
  • Edit, duplicate, or delete existing recipe books
  • See how many recipes and clients are associated with each book

The list view shows every recipe book in your workspace, including the book name, cover image, total recipe count, and number of clients with access.

Each row has a three-dot menu with quick actions: Edit, Duplicate, and Delete.

Creating a Recipe Book

1
Navigate to Recipe Books in the sidebar
2
Click Add Recipe Book
3
In the modal, enter a Recipe Book Name (required)
4
Optionally add a Recipe Book Description
5
Select a cover image — click the image thumbnail to open the image picker
6
Click Add Recipe Book to create the book

After creation, the book opens in the builder view where you can start adding sections and recipes.

Pick a descriptive name that tells clients what to expect. Names like "High Protein Recipes" or "Quick Weeknight Dinners" work better than generic names.

Cover Images

Every recipe book has a cover image that appears on the list page, the book header, and in the client's mobile app.

Sections

Sections are how you organize recipes inside a book. Each section has a name, a display format, and its own set of recipes. Think of them as chapters — "Breakfast Ideas", "High Protein Dinners", "Quick Snacks", etc.

Adding a section

1
Open a recipe book
2
Click Add Section in the page header
3
Enter a Section Name — e.g. "Breakfast", "High Protein", "Quick Meals"
4
Click Create Section

The new section appears in the builder, ready for you to add recipes and choose a display format.

Renaming a section

1
Click the three-dot menu on the section header
2
Select Edit Section
3
Update the name and click Rename Section

Deleting a section

3

Section Display Formats

Each section has its own display format that controls how recipes appear to clients in the mobile app. You can mix and match formats across sections within the same book.

FormatDescription
CarouselHorizontally scrollable large cards. Best for hero or featured recipes.
GridTwo-column grid of square cards. Good for browsing larger collections.
CardFull-width stacked cards. Works well for 2-5 recipes per section.
ListCompact rows with thumbnail, name, and calorie count. Best for long lists.

Changing a section's format

1
Click the Layout button on the section header (desktop), or open the three-dot menu and select Layout (mobile)
2
Click one of the four format options: List, Card, Carousel, or Grid
3
The format applies immediately — check the live phone preview on the right side of the builder to see how it looks
Use Carousel for your top picks at the top of the book, Grid for browsable categories, and List for sections with many recipes. Mixing formats creates a more engaging browsing experience for clients.

Adding Recipes to a Section

Recipes are added from your Meal Library or the HubFit Recipes database. Each recipe you add references an existing meal — it is not a copy.

1
Open a recipe book and find the section you want to add to
2
Click Add Recipe on that section's header
3
The Import Recipe modal opens with two tabs: Your Library and HubFit Recipes
4
On the Your Library tab, search by name or filter by category to find meals from your Meal Library
5
On the HubFit Recipes tab, browse the built-in recipe database
6
Click a recipe to add it — it appears in the section immediately
A recipe cannot appear twice in the same section. If it already exists, you will see a message and the recipe will not be added again. The same recipe can appear in different sections within the same book.

Viewing a recipe

Click any recipe in the builder list to open the full recipe detail modal. This shows the complete ingredient list, cooking instructions, macro breakdown, meal image, and serving information.

Removing a recipe from a section

1
Hover over the recipe row (or view it on mobile)
2
Click the red delete button that appears
3
Confirm the deletion
Removing a recipe from a section only removes it from that section. The meal itself remains in your Meal Library and in any other sections or books that reference it.

Reordering

Reordering sections

You can change the order in which sections appear in the book.

1
Open the recipe book
2
Click the reorder icon (arrows up/down) in the page header
3
Drag and drop sections into the desired order
4
Click Save Order

Reordering recipes within a section

1
Click the three-dot menu on the section header
2
Select Reorder
3
Drag and drop recipes into the desired order
4
Click Save Order

The Live Preview

When you are building a recipe book on desktop, the right side of the builder shows a live phone preview. This is a pixel-accurate mockup of how the book looks in the client's mobile app.

The preview updates in real time as you:

  • Add, remove, or reorder recipes
  • Change section display formats
  • Update the cover image
  • Add or rename sections
Use the live preview to experiment with different section formats. Try switching between Carousel and Grid to see which layout works best for each section's content.

Duplicating a Recipe Book

Duplicating creates an exact copy of a recipe book, including all sections, recipes, and the cover image. The copy does not include client access — you'll need to share it separately.

1
On the Recipe Books list page, click the three-dot menu on the book you want to duplicate
2
Select Duplicate
3
Enter a name for the copy
4
Click Duplicate Recipe Book

Deleting a Recipe Book

1
Click the three-dot menu on the recipe book row
2
Select Delete
3
Confirm the deletion

How Clients View Recipe Books

Clients see their assigned recipe books under the Recipe Books tab in the Nutrition section of the app. Each book shows its cover image, name, and recipe count. Tapping a book opens it with sections displayed in the layout you configured. Clients can also log meals directly from a recipe book into the in-app nutrition tracker.

When you share a recipe book with a client, they receive a push notification. If you revoke access or delete the book, it disappears from their app. If a client has no remaining recipe book access, the Recipe Books tab is automatically hidden.

Frequently Asked Questions
