A branded app for personal trainers is a client app on the App Store and Google Play under your own name, icon and colors. The easiest way to get one is HubFit's Branded App, built, submitted and maintained for you for $189 a month on top of your HubFit subscription. It's typically live in 7 to 10 business days once your developer accounts are ready.

Key takeaways

  • Your name on their home screen. Clients open their coaching app most days. When it's yours, the credit for their progress lands on you.
  • Done for you. HubFit builds, submits and maintains your iOS and Android apps. Store review and the privacy policy are handled, and new features arrive by themselves.
  • One clear price. $189 a month on top of your HubFit subscription, with no setup fee and no commitment. Apple charges $99 a year and Google $25 once.
  • Clients don't start over. They download your app and sign in as usual. Their programs, history and messages are all there.

What is a branded app for personal trainers?

A branded app is your own client app, listed in the stores under your business, running on a full coaching platform. Clients search your name, download your app and see your icon on their home screen.

You'll also hear it called a white label personal training app.

Two example branded apps side by side: VRise in green and Bali in pink, each with its own name and logo above the client's tasks, challenges and community

Why do trainers put clients in their own app?

Because the app is the brand clients see most, and that pays back in retention, referrals and price.

  • Retention. A client who feels coached by you is slower to leave you. And winning a new client can cost five to 25 times more than keeping one.
  • Referrals. "Download my coach's app, search her name" is a referral a friend can act on today.
  • Pricing. Your own app makes a premium package worth more to clients, and gives you a reason to raise prices for new ones.
  • A professional brand. An app under your name tells a prospect you run a real business, not a side project.

For in-person trainers it matters most on the days you aren't there: the Saturday workout, the dinner log, the weekly check-in.

Why is HubFit the best way to get your own app?

Every HubFit feature, under your name: training, nutrition, check-ins, habits, messaging, community and challenges.

Real coaches already run their business this way:

  • For Her Kind (Dr. Alisa DiFruscia). A naturopathic doctor and personal trainer, Alisa runs 1:1 virtual coaching for women: custom training, nutrition plans, video check-ins and a community, all inside her own app.

  • Proven (Josh Taylor). Evidence-based coaching for people with jobs, families and real schedules: 200+ programs, twice-weekly live streams and 1:1 coaching, all inside Proven's own app.

  • No developers. We build the iOS and Android apps and prepare the store listings.

  • No store paperwork. We handle App Store and Google Play review and the privacy policy.

  • No updates to ship. New HubFit features and fixes reach your app automatically.

Your side doesn't change. Check-ins arrive in the same queue, whichever app your clients send them from.

Two client app screens: a weekly check-in form with questions on the week's biggest win and workouts completed, and a habits page with weekly progress and vitamins, meal prep and water intake streaks

How do you launch a branded app with HubFit?

You share your brand, set up two developer accounts with our help, and we build and submit the app.

  1. Share your brand. Apply with your business details. You don't need a logo to apply: we help you settle the app name, icon and color.
  2. Set up your developer accounts. You enroll with Apple and Google Play as an organization, and we guide each step.
  3. We build and submit. We build both apps, submit them from your accounts and handle review. Then you invite your clients.

Apple requires your app to come from your own developer account, so you enroll as a business with a free D-U-N-S number. Request it the day you apply; it can take about a week. Our guide to getting your fitness app on the App Store walks through both stores.

How much does a branded app cost a personal trainer?

HubFit's Branded App costs $189 a month on top of your HubFit subscription. Apple's $99 a year and Google's one-time $25 are paid to them under your own accounts.

CostAmount
Branded App add-on$189 a month
Setup feeNone
Apple Developer, to Apple$99 a year
Google Play, to Google$25 one time
Year one, add-on and fees$2,392
Each year after$2,367

Your HubFit subscription comes on top.

Applying costs nothing.

Compare that with a custom build. By our estimate, building your own fitness app costs about $80,000 to $250,000 and 6 to 12 months of development, then $2,000 to $5,000 a month to run.

Is a branded app worth it with only a few clients?

It pays for itself once it keeps two clients or supports a small price rise, so it fits most trainers with a steady roster.

Your situationOur take
Under 5 paying clientsNot yet: grow first
No registered businessNot yet: register a business
5 clients or moreYes, 2 clients cover it
Online coachYes, it's your delivery
Nutrition coachYes, meals logged daily
Gym or studioYes, members get your app

The math is simple. An online coach at $150 a month per client covers the app by keeping two clients who would have left. An in-person trainer at $70 a session, once a week, covers it with one regular client. These are example prices, so put in your own.

Gyms get members opening the app daily with a group challenge and its leaderboard. If your roster is ready, apply for your branded app.

FAQ

Short answers to what personal trainers and fitness coaches ask most about a branded app.

Is a white label personal training app the same as a branded app?

Mostly, yes. Both mean a client app that carries your brand instead of the software company's (what a white label app is). The difference is how far it goes. Some providers only put your logo inside their own app. A true branded app, like HubFit's, has your own icon and your own App Store and Google Play listing.

How much does a branded fitness app cost?

HubFit's Branded App is $189 a month on top of your HubFit subscription, plus Apple's $99 a year and Google's $25 once: $2,392 in year one. A custom build costs about $80,000 to $250,000, then $2,000 to $5,000 a month.

Do I need my own Apple and Google developer accounts?

Yes. Apple's App Review Guideline 4.2.6 asks for apps built from a template service to be submitted by the business that owns the content, so your app goes out under your own accounts. You enroll with both stores as an organization, which needs a registered business and a free D-U-N-S number. We guide you through it.

How long does it take to launch a branded app?

Apps are typically live in 7 to 10 business days once your Apple and Google developer accounts are ready. If you don't have a D-U-N-S number yet, request it first. Apple's D-U-N-S help page says to allow up to five business days for the number, plus up to two for Apple to receive it.

Will my existing clients have to start over?

No. Once your app is live, clients download it from the store and sign in with their existing details. Their programs, workout history, check-ins and messages are all there, because nothing moves. You keep coaching the same way, from the same account, with every client in one place.

Your app, your name, done for you

You bring the clients and the brand; we build the app, get it through both stores and keep it current. Applying costs nothing, and there's no commitment.
